DINTI BATSTONE  


Dinti attended schools in Hong Kong and Tokyo before coming to the UK. At 16 she won a Scholarship to Rugby School in Warwickshire and at 18 she won a national prize as "UK Young Linguist of the Year". Her prize included a trip to the European Parliament, which fostered her early interest in European affairs.

Dinti read Social & Political Sciences at Pembroke College, Cambridge, focusing mainly on European Politics. After university Dinti went to law school in London and then joined City law firm Linklaters. She later moved to FremantleMedia, an international television production company.

Following an MBA at INSEAD business school in France, Dinti has most recently combined freelance consulting work with bringing up her two young children.
Politics

Dinti joined the Liberal Democrats in 1999 and has been involved in numerous Liberal Democrat campaigns as both an activist and campaigner.

Dinti was elected to Lambeth Council in 2002, serving as a Councillor for a diverse ward in Kennington. She was elected Chair of the LibDem Council Group and also served on the Finance Committee and the Council's main Scrutiny and Overview Committee. She stood down at the 2006 Council election, having moved to Hammersmith & Fulham.

Dinti is No. 3 on the Liberal Democrat List for London for the European Parliament Elections (June 2009). She is also Vice-Chair of the Liberal Democrat Campaign for Gender Balance, which campaigns to get more women elected to the UK Parliament. 
 
 
  A fluent European who can speak for London
Dinti has a multi-cultural background. She spent her childhood in Asia and has also lived in Italy, France, Mexico, the USA and Sweden. She speaks fluent Italian, Spanish and French as well as basic Portuguese and Japanese.

Throughout her career, Dinti has had extensive experience of working in diverse, multi-cultural environments. Dinti worked as a lawyer in London and Hong Kong, then as a TV executive negotiating business deals in countries as diverse as Turkey, Israel, Poland, Belgium, Greece, Argentina and Brazil. 

Dinti's multi-cultural background helps her to connect with London's diverse population. She has led the 'Your London Your Europe Your Vote' campaign to encourage more of London's non-British EU citizens participate in politics.
